Hello Everyone,

Well, it was about reflecting on the past this time . As some of you know that from time to time I like to touch base on some of the topics that come up in my writing journey. Most often it has been about writer’s block and once again it is. Only a little different in some of the specifics because it has to do with reflecting on the first book.

What Happened?

Well so there I was, a week or so after submitting the second book to the publisher, just waiting to hear how the new assessment comes out. I get a response form the editor that there are a few issues. Great, I love the insight and the ability to touch base on a few things before the overall adjustments before editing become overwhelming. Who wouldn’t be? Right?

The editor wanted me to reflect on Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

Once again I went and wrote something a little philosophical but it is a break from the other stuff for me and allows me to free my mind. In writing you never can tell how much of a story has a secret underlying message. We often use these metaphors or likenesses to create something that relates to an audience but also ourselves. This is kind of what I got last week with the walls but this week it’s trails and mazes.

Mazes and Trails:

So once again I was at work today and thinking or lost in train of thought I guess I might say. I was walking through the desert trying to figure out my path in between cacti, trees, rocks or any surfaces that may be too much to climb up.

While walking, I remembered something from my past that had a lot to do Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

So just the other day I was watching a movie and realized how much of a plot a love story can create. Also how many of the either eerie or scary movies involve a love story. That made me think about how many actually do have love stories or as part of the plot.

Some Classics:

First of all most of the old fantasy movies that many of us have grown up with like Sleeping Beauty, Beauty and the Beast, or Cinderella all have this love as part of the plot for the story. However they also have the villains and despair inside the movie or the book that helps create part of the tale. It’s almost as if the story line would seem ‘too’ every day or normal to us if the characters did not also have a villain in the mix.

Sleeping Beauty had Maleficent.

Cinderella Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

I know I’ve talked about bugs before and more than once. The thing is, is that they often appear in horror movies or scary tales. We will see the worms crawling out of an upturned corpse or the spiders crawling up a wall but the truth of the matter is we do find these bugs more often than not in those places we already dread to venture. However in today’s blog post I want to talk about something else that concerns bugs. Swarms.

American Dustbowl:

Well there I was taking a break from my usual activities and trying to watch a few minutes of television with my brother at his place. I don’t have television so I obviously don’t watch much. I was watching a program called “Mysteries at the Museum.” I at least believe it was or it was one of the other “mystery” shows that are Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

Well to get things started I had to change the title around but I decided not to change most of the body of the subject because it was, well, already done. Mirages don’t just occur in the desert so that’s why I decided to change it around. So the topic at hand is mirages and as usual the weirdness or eeriness that they inspire is many of us.

What is a Mirage?

Well to get started it is an optical illusion to some degree. It is something that the natural eye sees but is not there in the sense of it not being what it appears to be. We are in fact seeing the heat waves and most often the light waves that are distorted from the observer’s location. Although the ones that have the heated air influencing them are actually called “heat hazes” like those created from Continue reading

Hello everyone,

Just went and saw another scary movie this last weekend with my brother and forgot how fun it was to watch a good scary movie at the theater. I have a hard time justifying going to the theaters anymore because of the costs but sometimes it’s just worth it to me. The movie we went and saw was The Conjuring 2. I really enjoyed it.

What made it enjoyable?

Well to me the theater always captures that different feeling than watching a movie at home. This is probably because of the huge screen in front of you that lets you see more details of the movie than at home. Also it was new enough that the good parts weren’t ruined for me yet.

The movie was also based on the accounts of two real life paranormal investigators and that part is enough alone to get me thrilled to Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

So I know I’ve written about this before but since it hit me so hard today I wanted to address the point about the difficulties that writer’s block can sometimes create.

The Topic:

The topic that I was working on was more business related while getting ready for an interview on Monday of this week. I could not get past thinking about an answer or an example of a certain time something happened to me. The question had multiple answers that I could have gone with but I wanted to find that one, somewhere back in my memory. That golden answer that would mold it all together. The truth was they were all about the same.

The Results:

Well I skipped past the question and then went back to it after blazing through the rest. I thought that it would help free up my mind or maybe while Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

I just posted a picture from a Facebook site that I follow this week and the caption stated that the Black Forest was responsible for 15,000 missing people cases last year. I posted it, not taking into account the large number of people is and was even called out on it a little for factual information. Although I would like to do some more research into the subject my time is limited and this is what I have found out so far.

Numbers:

Some sources say that the actual number is 1,500. That would make a little more sense considering it is still an awfully lot of people to go missing. Still it doesn’t mean in any sense that they these people were ever discovered, simply missing. So that could make the number easily higher again. Think about lost kids at a store or mall. My question is, Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

Thinking about the hot desert temperatures that have already creeped up on us this summer, I would like to bring to everyone’s attention the sounds of the desert that coincide with that heat.

As I was walking through the desert the other day I was overwhelmed by the sound of the cicadas this year. Some years it seems that they are more noticeable as the dominant sound of the desert than others. I even caught one for a moment before releasing it to watch it buzz away in frustration because it flew into me and then the house, and then a car, and then the house’s window again. Each time making its little buzz of frustration louder and louder. Silly little agitated bugs. Ha!

Although this will not fit into my Eerie for Thoughts segment I feel a bit of a creepy feeling sometimes when I hear Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

Thanks for checking in again. To start things off I would like to give my thanks to all of the fallen soldiers for their sacrifice to protecting our country and freedom. Those who gave all so I could be here today have my utmost respect and I would like to thank them and I give my heart out to their families as well. Thank you on this Memorial Day.

I often see the question come up about writer’s block or similar references to not being able to think about what a character or plot line is supposed to do next. Don’t get me wrong this happens but most often I get writer’s fatigue.

Writers Block:

Most times when I read about how other authors deal with this “block” they say they do some reading, go for a walk, watch some television, or maybe just meditate. I am Continue reading
