Hello Everyone,

Well it’s the second to the last blog for now about the disappearing people and this one happens to be a diplomat named Benjamin Bathurst. First off, a diplomat can be one of two types of people or one in the same. A diplomat is defined as an official representing a country, or someone who can deal with an issue in a sensitive manner. So it can be two different objectives or a person representing a country in a sensitive manner. As with Benjamin Bathurst it is one in the same.

But back to the disappearance. A disappearing diplomat can be some concern especially for the country from which he was sent. An issue like this could start wars or close borders, stop trade. All kinds of things could go wrong in a situation like this. So how did it play out, well that’s what we are going Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

First off many people or reports that relate to Owen Parfitt’s disappearance use a different title. I prefer this one because of its kinder nature to the missing person involved. Also, for any of you who have really been following me for the past several weeks on these disappearances then I would like to inform you or something. The last blog on this subject will also help to be an insight into the world of “Desert Shadows” when the time comes for the proper book in the series to reveal itself. It won’t give anything away but will allow you to understand a little of the historical or prior myth and back story that I do apply to my books.

Now back to the main topic of discussion. Owen. Well as many of you know some of the tales have been debunked or at least people have claimed Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

Well I’m still on the disappearances thing. At least for a couple more when I’m not being all nostalgic. This time it’s a tunnel. The Lincoln Tunnel.

And this time it’s also a matter of time, so to speak.

The Lincoln Tunnel:

The Lincoln Tunnel opened in 1937 that connects New Jersey to New York via underneath the massive weight of the Hudson River. It is roughly 1.5 miles long.

To me the walls still creak with the weight and fluidity of the river waiting for the right moment to push down on the drivers inside. It might sound a little bit morbid but those were the thoughts I had. At least a few times while traversing the tunnel when I was younger with my grandparents. I prefer the George Washington bridge myself to get from point A to B.

The Mysteries:

One couple was driving Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

First of all this is the triangle that is not to be confused with its more famous brother or sister triangle The Bermuda or its closest neighbor triangle The Bridgewater Triangle. I know right, probably never knew there were multiple “triangles” that have eerie occurrences or disappearances.

Where, When, Why:

The Bennington Triangle is located in Vermont. Actually Southwest Vermont to be more specific. When? Well that’s up to debate on what or who the when relates to. I have no idea if the mysterious area was always active but it came into popularity in the years 1920-1950. The “Why” is because a lot of people went missing in the region during those years? I know it is a long period of time.

Some Facts:

There are several reported incidents that occurred between 1945 and each one has their own intriguing and eerie story but the triangle in Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

Thanks again for reading and I know I’m on another tangent but I like the flow of it. It lets me settle into a mood and writing style that I hope helps briefly explain the stories but also one that elevates the mood. This one might not seem as creepy or as eerie as others but still the facts and the investigations that followed add to the elements of the mysterious.

Where:

Well it took place on an island in the Flannan Isles of the Northwest coast of Scotland. The main incident of course that we are talking about took place at a lighthouse erected on one of those islands.

When:

December 28th 1900 was the date when someone first noticed something was amiss. The exact time of the disappearance is hard to conclude from the records except for the last time the missing people write into Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

Well like I said earlier this week that was my last vampire blog for a while unless something really cool comes up. Well here is a new subject I’m going to be focusing on for a few to ten or so blogs over the next few weeks. The subject of disappearances.

Oliver Larch:

1890 was the year and the young lads name was Oliver. He was sent to fetch water from the family well on Christmas Eve while the family was singing. It was long after his departure to the well that the family heard him yelling for help. Supposedly he was yelling, “Help, it’s got me!” Or something around those lines. It is an interesting case because certain clippings and other sources have different stories and documentation. Back to the story the weather conditions of the day were snow blanketed landscape and clear skies after an earlier Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

Well here it is. My last vampire one for a while. I must have done close to a dozen of them now and had this one last mysterious vampire tale to tell before I move on to another creature. Or creatures, who knows. Anyways this is some basic information on the vampire Jure Grando.

Who, Where, When:

He was a villager from the region of Istria known today as Croatia. When…well it depends. The facts say he dies in 1656 but he was around for sixteen years after that. According to legend anyways. This may be one of the oldest known tales of vampirism in the world, depending on the accuracy of the date in comparison with others. Once again it was in a small village in an older time which brings that eerie feeling all around for me. Mainly because of the lack of knowledge in those Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

We all have different attitudes toward the wind. Someone once even told me that I got angry if the wind wasn’t blowing the right direction. I don’t think that had anything to do with the wind but was something else entirely but still the fact of the matter is the wind can be a blessing and a burden at times,

I actually like the wind. Although not always in the hot summers here where it feels like a confection oven blowing in your face every time you walk outside but typically I like the unstill feeling that the wind or gusts of wind provides.

Wind and Gusts:

Wind is caused by changes or differences in atmospheric pressure when the high and low pressures meet. It is also caused by the Coriolis Effect. So the rotation of the planet is a combining factor in the wind production and the Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

I know I’ve done a lot of vampires so far but there are two more I want to share some thoughts on and one is the Serbian tale of Sava Savanovic, or is it a tale?

Sava:

From being the possible owner of the mill down by a river it is told that Sava used the mill to lure in the “millers” when they came to mill their grains. Then he would perform his typical vampire duties of drinking their blood and well…killing them. I wonder if the river would run red after his midnight feasts. Maybe another good little story there.

The Popularity of the Case:

Sava Savanovic’s tale came to be around or just later than another Serbian vampire I mentioned not too long ago by the name of Peter Plogojowitz. Perhaps the tales are one in the same vampire legend somehow morphed together because if Continue reading

Hello Everyone,

First of all I would like to point out that although marvelous and spectacular and fascinating and everything else that it is, lightning is dangerous. Just needed to get that out of the way and to point out that there doesn’t need to be storm clouds for there to be lightning. In certain climates there are such things as “dry lightning” and this phenomenon exits in some areas more than others. However I am sure that we or at least most of us are all aware of the precautions necessary when the dangers of lightning increases and how to prevent any accidents and decrease the risk. If not you can find some good information on the Internet by looking up the National Weather Service or the Center for Disease Control and Prevention under “lightning-safety.” Or simply follow the links:

http://www.cdc.gov/features/lightning-safety/

http://www.nws.noaa.gov/os/lightning/resources/lightning-safety.pdf

Be safe out there this storm season. Continue reading
